  • 1/2lb (225g) plain pastry
  • Golden syrup
  • Gentle white breadcrumbs

Directions

  1. Make 1/2lb plain pastry.
  2. Line plates with pastry a very good 1/4 inch thick, leaving some pastry for adorning.
  3. Fill the centre with golden syrup and sprinkle thickly with mushy white crumbs.
  4. Beautify with twisted strips of paste and bake until a pale golden brown.

Fashionable Be-Ro Recipe for Treacle Tart

100g (4oz) brief pastry

100g (40z) golden-syrup

25g (1oz) mushy white breadcrumbs

1/2 lemon, grated rind and juice

Methodology:

1. Warmth oven to 200C/400F/Fuel mark 6

2. LIne an 18cm (7 inch) ovenproof plate with the pastry.

3. Heat syrup and blend with breadcrumbs, lemon juice and rind.

4. Pour on to pastry and enhance prime with pastry trimmings.

5. Bake for 20 minutes
